David Sprague’s dreamlike and sometimes abstract compositions depicting his contemporary
interpretations of North American rock art are collected worldwide. His fascination with the
architecture, landscape, and life-ways of Northern New Mexico is reshaping itself with a more abstract eye. Combining his expertise in architecture with an interest and enthusiasm for watercolor and the history of the Southwest, he creates feelings and experiences lost in time or found in the viewer’s imagination. His award-winning work can be found in many collections, both private and corporate. |
| David grew up in West Texas and was educated as an Architect at Texas Tech University. Receiving his architectural license in 1971, he was principal or partner in three architectural firms in Dallas, Texas. While at Texas Tech, he also studied painting and sculpture, and returned to painting full time in 1991. He is now a full time resident of Taos, New Mexico. |
