Taking the colorful high desert surrounding Taos, New Mexico as her subject, Shirley captures the changes in seasons and the dramatic surprises in color and form that make up her part of the world. Capturing this dynamic landscape in oil pastels requires considerable care in technique but results in a radiance difficult to achieve in other mediums. It is this combination of color, form and the inner glow of her paintings that makes her work popular with both first time visitors to Taos and long time residents. She shows exclusively at Open Space Gallery and gladly accepts commissions. |
