Oil pencil is blended with turpentine to attain a brilliant saturation of color. Each layer of pencil is put down one at
time, followed by a brushing of turpentine, which moves and blends the color to the exact location and consistency.
Each painting is framed under my direction to ensure the highest artistic and preservation standards.

I continue to search for a new visual language between the viewer and myself. Some have described my work
as "expressionist realism". I search for expression not imitation…relationships rather than realism.
I remain open to inspired moments and follow the direction that those moments take me to. Drawing continues to be the
core element of my creations. I resist the temptation to be detailed and rely on visual tension and dynamic rhythms of
color and light to convey my imagery. . . B.J. Briner |
